Interactive Tools for Homeschooling
You don't need a classroom full of technology to make learning come alive. The right tools — used consistently — can transform your kitchen table into the most engaging classroom your child has ever sat in.
Here are three ways to get started today:
1. Meet your child where they are. Before adding any tool, observe how your child naturally engages with content. Are they visual? Do they prefer listening? Choose tools that match their learning style, not the trending app of the week.
2. Use free platforms that span K–12. Khan Academy (khanacademy.org) offers free, standards-aligned lessons in math, science, history, and more — from kindergarten through high school. Students work at their own pace, and you can track progress in real time.
3. Rotate tools to prevent burnout. Even the best interactive tool loses its magic with overuse. Build variety into your week — one day digital, one day hands-on, one day discussion-based.
📌 Free Resource: Start with Khan Academy — completely free for families.
📖 Bonus: Spark a love of learning early with The Adventures of Tommy Squirrel and Friends — a story about responsibility and making good choices. Grab your free ebook (PDF) on the Blog Page, DrJeanWright.com.
